Foreign Samizdat Collection at Libri Prohibiti

The Libri Prohibiti’s collection of foreign samizdat monographs and periodicals contains mainly Slovak and Polish samizdat literature. Russian samizdat and periodicals from the former German Democratic Republic are marginally represented.

Former Tito Archive

The ‘Office of the President of the Republic’ collection was a constituent part of the former archive of J.B. Tito and today comprises a separate unit within the Archives of Yugoslavia. It contains materials that were created in connection with the activity of the president of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito, who was at the helm of the state from 1945 to 1980. The collection is exceptionally rich in material relevant for the study of all aspects of Yugoslav history, and also contains documents relating to opposition activities during the time of his rule.

Forms of Resistance in Fine Arts

The temporary collection "Forms of Resistance" is dedicated to the artistic opposition against the communist regime in Bulgaria from 1944 to 1985. The exhibition highlights different forms of repression against particular artists at particular moments during the period of state socialism. It also shows the active role of some painters, as well as their forms of resistance against the dogmas of Socialist Realism and against ideological guidance. The upper time limit is the beginning of the perestroika in the Soviet Union, which marks the beginning of the final disintegration of the system of state socialism, also with regard to the political control of arts.

Fortepan

Fortepan is an extensive online collection of photos documenting the 20^th century until 1990. All the photos fall under creative commons license. Started as a private non-profit initiative, it grew out of a core collection of 5,000 images, and it has been dynamically expanding as both institutions and private individuals have donated photos. Images are largely about scenes of life in Hungary, but there is a growing number of photos that were taken in other countries. Fortepan is the largest free-use digital photo collection covering, among other things, cultural opposition under communism in Eastern Europe. Underground music scenes, alternative theatre and film, grey zone cultural activities, and the democratic and populist opposition are all topics covered in the collection.

Mrežne stranice Franjo Tuđman

Mrežne stranice ilustriraju životni put i evoluciju ideja Franje Tuđmana, povjesničara i političara koji je zbog objavljivanja rezultata svojih znanstvenih istraživanja, koja su bila u suprotnosti s dominantnim jugoslavensko-komunističkim narativom, dva puta bio osuđen na zatvorsku kaznu i na zabranu javnoga istupanja. Na mrežnoj stranici nalaze se digitalizirane fotografije, izvadci iz Tuđmanovoga dnevnika, rukopisa i objavljenih radova. Sva ta građa čini zbirku koja svjedoči o njegovom opozicijskom djelovanju i o životnom putu od partijskoga disidenta do vođe političke opozicije koja je srušila komunističku vlast u Hrvatskoj.
