The Association was founded on 12 March, 1968. It was an independent association of students and graduates of the Faculty of Arts at UJEP (University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně, now Masaryk University). The organisation was unusual for its time, being completely independent of centrally managed mass youth and student organisations. Due to this fact and because the association was officially authorised by South Moravian KNV, since the second half of 1968, it has become a platform for other student organisations - the strike committee and since January 1969, also an action committee. Both of these subjects of the association had entire university holdings. At that time, the Association of Students of Philosophy becomes an environment for formulating the free opinions of the whole university. In addition to the initiative which developed within the university, the association also developed contacts with other universities in Czechoslovakia and abroad (e.g. Freie Universität in West Berlin). The Association also became the initiator of the creation of a new student organisation, namely the Moravian Union of University Students who would take into account the interests of Moravian universities and their students besides the existing Czech and Slovak Union. During its existence, it irregularly published the magazine "Ruch". With the onset of normalisation at the beginning of the 1970s, the independent and democratic platform of the Association became a growing problem for the Communist regime, due to which the association was dissolved in 1970.
