The Ion Dumitru Collection is the richest and most diverse of all the private archives of the Romanian exile community, which makes it indispensable for the study of the history of postwar Romanian exile. The collection is also a fundamental source for documenting and understanding Romania's (domestic and foreign) political, cultural, economic, and social evolution during both the communist and post-communist periods. At the same time, this private archive is a historical source both for understanding how the Bucharest authorities acted to divide the Romanians abroad and to counteract their actions aimed at unmasking the wrondoings of the communist regime between 1948 and 1989 in the West and for how Romanians within the country perceived the emigrant community.

The Ion Monoran Collection documents the intellectual profile of one of the leaders of the underground cultural movements in the Banat, who, thanks to his ability to catalyse the action of the crowd gathered in the streets of Timişoara on 16 December 1989, became one of the figures who incontestably made a mark on the Romanian Revolution.

The Irina Margareta Nistor Private Collection includes a series of written documents, together with a few dozen VHS video cassettes preserving a small part of the Western films that were introduced clandestinely into Romania between 1985 and 1989, to be translated and dubbed and then distributed on video cassettes (semi)clandestinely. This collection epitomises a popular culture phenomenon without any equivalent in Eastern Europe, which emerged in Romania as a reaction to the reduction of the official programme broadcast on television channels to just two hours per day and to news broadcasts about the activity of Nicolae Ceauşescu and the leadership of the Romanian Communist Party.

Sveučilišna knjižnica u Puli na svojoj internetskoj stranici sadrži digitalnu zbirku „Istarski borac“. Riječ je o zbirci prvoga hrvatskog omladinskog časopisa Istarski borac/IBOR koji izlazi od 1953. do 1979. (uz dva manja prekida) u Puli. Časopis je izdavao Književni klub „Istarski borac“ s osnovnom misli vodiljom – očuvanje hrvatskoga jezika u Istri. U 1970-ima časopis poprima karakter kritičkog medija i otvara sve više kulturnih, lokalnih i društvenih tema, čija intonacija nije bila dobro prihvaćena od socijalističkih vlasti, te je časopisu 1979. ukinuto financiranje i time prestaje izlaziti.
